Delmer is the seventh of ten children in a family living in extreme poverty. With so many mouths to feed and so little to go around, school was a luxury his family could rarely afford to give him.

At the City of Refuge, Delmer finally has both: enough to eat and a seat in a classroom, every day. His favorite thing in the world is swimming, and the pool at the City of Refuge is one of his happiest places.

Delmer dreams of becoming a police officer when he grows up. Sponsorship makes sure that being the seventh of ten never again decides what his future can hold.
